How to Make a Video Game Stop Lagging on Windows

Steps

   Start up the game you want to speed up. Potentially, it will probably lag a little. Don't worry. It is going to be fixed now.

   Open up Task Manager. This can be done-

   • By pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del(In Windows XP or Below)
   • By pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del and selecting it from the list of safety options(Vista and Above)
   • Right-clicking on the task bar and selecting it from the menu.

   Go to the process list. On the top of the Task Manager, there should be a few tabs labeled "Applications, Processes, Services, Performance etc.". Select the tab labeled "Processes".

   Select your game, and boost the priority. This can be done by right-clicking on the name of your game (with an .exe at the end) and selecting "High/Above Normal" priority.

   Play this game now. It shouldn't lag.
